On January 7, 2025, the leadership of Adeniji Adeleye, who had steered the ship of EKOBA95 Service Club for almost ten solid years, decided that the set could no longer continue operating like “boys planning reunion under mango tree.” Structure was needed. Proper structure. The kind that would make even future generations say, “These people did not come to play.”

And just like that, three powerful committees were born. First came the Electoral Committee and Constitution Drafting Committee, both were chaired by the ever-busy and ever-available Adedeji Joseph, alongside Sesan Oyesile, Seun Sonoiki, and Saheed Ismail. These men did not only draft rules; they practically turned politics into WAEC practicals. Suddenly, people who normally only replied “Happy Birthday bro” in the group became constitutional lawyers overnight. Then came the mighty 30th Anniversary Reunion Committee, was chaired by the energetic Dapo Oketola, with Oluwadamilare Joseph Adebayo, Kehinde Okunade, Malachy Maduako, and Olanrewaju Adeoye. These men worked so hard that if stress were money, they would all own houses in Banana Island by now.

The electoral process itself became one of the most organized exercises in EKOBA95 history. Gone were the days of “na my friend go lead.” Candidates had to purchase nomination forms and secure endorsements from two bona fide members of the set before even dreaming of contesting. Some people were moving around looking for endorsements like politicians looking for voters during election season. Then came screening, ah! Screening day was not for the weak; the Electoral Committee scrutinized candidates carefully. Qualified and unqualified candidates were publicly announced for all to see; some celebrated qualification like Champions League winners; others disappeared briefly from the WhatsApp group to “seek the face of God.” But the committee remained firm and fair; afterward, the qualified candidates met with the Electoral Committee and were reminded that leadership was not a do-or-die affair. In other words: “Nobody should scatter EKOBA95 because of ordinary post.” Campaign season followed immediately. Posters flew around. Promises filled the air. Everybody suddenly became passionate about service, unity, transparency, accountability, and “moving the set forward.” Even people who normally typed only “Noted” began writing long epistles.

Then came the unforgettable Manifesto Night on May 25, 2025. History will never forget that glorious evening. It was not merely a manifesto event; it was entertainment ministry mixed with politics. There was fun, vibes, banter, laughter, friendly attacks, and enough bashing to qualify for a comedy special. Candidates spoke passionately while classmates responded with savage but loving and critical questions. It was democracy with pepper soup flavor. Finally, on May 27, 2025, elections were conducted peacefully, and winners were announced the same day. History was made again on May 31, 2025, when the first official executives of the EKOBA95 Service Club were inaugurated. The occasion was graced by distinguished national executives including National President EK Kayode Elliot, VP2 EK Tito Ganiyu Nurudeen, and PRO EK Temitope Oluwabiyi.

The inaugurated executives were:

  • President – Omoleke Obasanjo
  • VP Diaspora – Oluwaseyi Ojo
  • VP Nigeria – Oludare Adebayo
  • Secretary – Malachy Maduako
  • Assistant Secretary – Kazeem Okewale
  • Social Officer – Razaq Animashaun
  • Welfare Officer Nigeria – Bamidele Apalowo
  • Welfare Officer Diaspora – Adeboye Olanrewaju
  • PRO – Dare Olufarati
  • Treasurer – Abiodun Salami
  • Financial Secretary – Fatai Akinbode
  • Ex Officio – Saheed Olakunle
  • Ex Officio – Adeyemi Adeleye

And while the executives settled into office, the Reunion Committee continued working tirelessly behind the scenes, delivering a befitting and unforgettable 30th Reunion that demonstrated to everyone that EKOBA95 is not just a set: it is a movement, a brotherhood, and a family where memories refuse to grow old.

Before structure became stable and before EKOBA95 Service Club found its present strength, there were men who carried the vision on their shoulders and watered the dream with sacrifice, patience, and commitment.

The first executives laid the foundation upon which today’s unity proudly stands: Ek. Adeleye Adeniji (President), Ek. Kehinde Okunade (Vice President), Ek. Ambali Abolore (PRO), Ek. Ahmed Alaofin (Secretary), Ek. Chukwuma Chukwutem (Assistant Secretary), Ek. Basheer Amoo (Treasurer), alongside Ek. Bayo Ojo, Ek. Taiwo Okunade, and Ek. Seun Sonoiki as Ex-Officio members.

Their labor was not for applause but for legacy; through countless calls, meetings, sacrifices, and dedication, they kept the flame alive and brought classmates together again as brothers. Truly, the labor of our heroes past shall never be in vain. Their service is a testament that volunteering is not losing time; it is building history.
