Our Story

Who EKOBA95 is

We are EKOBA95; not just a graduating class; not simply old boys tied together by uniforms, classrooms, or report cards. We are a generation shaped inside the restless heartbeat of Eko Boys' High School during a defining season of Nigeria’s story. We are brothers of memory, resilience, laughter, discipline, survival, and legacy.

We arrived as boys from different streets, backgrounds, languages, churches, mosques, and family realities. Some came from crowded compounds in Mushin, others from Idi-Oro, Ilasamaja, Agege, Surulere, Shomolu, Yaba, Bariga, and beyond. Yet the moment we stepped through the gates of Eko Boys, something larger than us began to happen. The school did not educate us; it forged us. The sound of the assembly bell, the dust of the football field (Maracana), the fear of surprise tests, the echo of morning devotions, the noise from classrooms during free periods, the beating of our legendary teachers, particularly MrsAderibigbe of blessed memory, the tension of inter-house sports, and the unforgettable encounters with teachers became the raw materials from which our brotherhood was built. We learned early that survival in Eko Boys required toughness, wisdom, humor, loyalty, and heart.

EKOBA95 represents a set raised during the transition from old Nigeria to emerging Nigeria. We knew life before mobile phones and social media swallowed human connection. We wrote letters, borrowed notebooks, shared textbooks, exchanged lunch, defended one another, and built friendships that did not depend on data subscriptions or algorithms. Our bonds were human, direct, and unforgettable. But beyond the laughter and youthful adventures, our story is one of becoming. Time scattered us across the world into different professions and callings; among us are pastors, lawyers, teachers, businessmen, doctors, engineers, civil servants, entrepreneurs, academics, media professionals, and community leaders. Some built families; some built companies; some quietly built lives of dignity far away from public attention. Yet wherever life carried us, the spirit of Eko Boys followed. What makes EKOBA95 unique is not perfection, wealth, or status. It is continuity. After decades, we still remember names, nicknames, streets, teachers, punishments, victories, heartbreaks, and shared dreams. We still laugh at stories nobody outside the set can fully understand. We still carry the emotional fingerprints of those formative years.

We are proof that brotherhood can survive the test of time.

EKOBA95 is therefore more than an alumni association. It is a living memory. A reunion of stories. A covenant of friendship. A reminder that the boys who once stood in white and brown uniforms under the Lagos sun have grown into men carrying history, scars, grace, and responsibility. And now, as we gather again, we do not merely celebrate the past. We honor the journey, remember those absent, inspire the younger generation, and preserve a legacy that must never be forgotten.

We are EKOBA95.
Over thirty years later, the bell may have stopped ringing, but the brotherhood still answers.
